WPT DeepStacks London begins with two players already claiming online poker wins
Yesterday, 888poker began the WPTDeepStacks London stop with two of the 16 scheduled events starting up. The series features $2 million in total prize money and two players were able to claim a piece of the pie after winning the Opening Event and the Mini Opening tournament.
First Day Details
The first event of the WPT DeepStacks London was the Opening Event featuring $200,000 in total prize money. The tournament had a $525 buy-in and saw 357 entries. This number included 65 re-entries. In the end, it would take over eight and a half hours of gameplay to see i2out earn the first-place win. He took on Tedson89 in the heads-up round and it would be a back-and-forth battle before the final winner was named.
Tedson89 was a tough competitor, having eliminated six of the seven players at the final table. He started the heads-up round with the lead but ended up losing out on the first-place prize money. A total of 48 players cashed out in the event.
Mini Event Details
Next up was the Mini Opening Event. This tournament allowed players to take part in the opener, but at a much lower price point. The buy-in was only $55 and a total of $50,000 was up for grabs. A total of 1,373 players competing, which pushed the prize pool up to $68,650. The entry total included 354 re-entries.
In this tournament, it was Svampnacke and Blahaj who would compete in the heads-up round. Svampnacke would earn the victory, defeating his opponent and winning $10,300 for his efforts. In second place, Blahaj would take home $7,332.
Today’s Events
Today, the WPT DeepStacks continues, offering players plenty more events online in London. Tonight at 6 pm, Event #3 and #4 kickoff. The first event is a $100,000 PKO tournament. Players can compete in this tournament for $320. The next is a lower PKO event offering a $30,000 prize pool with a smaller $55 buy-in.
The Main Event action also kicks off today. At 6:30 pm, the $1,000,000 Main Event Day 1 begins. This tournament has several Day 1s and has a buy-in of $1,050.
The schedule continues over the next few days with High Roller action taking place tomorrow. For those online poker players with larger bankrolls, the $100,000 High Roller is first up on the schedule. This event has a buy-in of $2,100.
