WSOP concludes with November Nine determined
The World Series of Poker Main Event has finished up, at least down to the November Nine, with the remaining players having to wait until the fall to see who will be the 2015 champion. The Main Event took several days to complete and all eyes were on Daniel Negreanu, a top poker pro who has yet to claim a Main Event win. While it looked like Negreanu would earn a spot at the final table, he would bust out in 11th place, narrowly missing his shot at the WSOP gold.
When Day 7 of the Main Event began, 27 players remained with Negreanu holding steady at 9th in chips. However, it would be one name that would rise above the rest during game play, Joseph McKeehen. Starting out aggressively, McKeehen continued to build a solid chip stack to hold 63,100,000 by the end of the day. McKeehen holds the top spot of the November Nine with the most chips, even taking out Negreanu in 11th place.
The closest player to McKeehen is Zvi Stern who holds 29,800,000. With such a huge lead, all eyes will be on McKeehen to either play aggressively once final table play begins or hold out for big hands to increase his lead even further.
Additional players who earned a spot at the final table include:
- Neil Blumenfield (22,000,000 chips)
- Pierre Neuville (21,075,000 chips)
- Max Steinberg (20,200,000 chips)
- Thomas Cannuli (12,250,000 chips)
- Joshua Beckley (11,800,000 chips)
- Patrick Chan (6,225,000 chips)
- Federico Butteroni (6,200,000 chips)
Each player of the final table is guaranteed a $1 million prize or higher. Ninth through fifth place will hit $1 million or just over $1 million mark. Prizes go much higher at 4th place with $2,614,558 being earned. Third will take home $3,397,103 while second place will earn $4,469,171. The first place winner gets the gold and the largest prize, $7,680,021, with all of the November Nine hoping to be the last player standing to earn the coveted prize. Now we simply have to wait for the players to return to the Rio this fall to see who will be this year’s WSOP Main Event champion.
